Word finder guide

What does a word unscrambler do?

A word unscrambler checks whether words can be built from the letters you enter. It is useful when solving anagrams, daily jumbles, classroom activities, and tile-based word games.

UnscrambleWise checks smaller words as well as full-length anagrams. For example, the rack LISTEN can produce six-letter anagrams such as SILENT, and shorter words such as LINE, LIST, and TEN.

Tips for better results

  • Use a wildcard when you have a blank tile.
  • Add board letters in the “contains” filter.
  • Switch to exact-anagram mode when every tile must be used.
  • Sort by score to surface high-value letters such as Q, Z, X, and J.
